Deed not breed.

I have just seen this on  facebook  and thought i would share it here, it is so true.

I thought this poster was so true. When will people stop condemning dogs just because of there breed. Staffordshire bull terriers aka (Staffies) were called nanny dogs for one reason and that was because they were so good with children. But thanks to a few mindless irresponsible idiots who use them as so called status dogs or suffer from small penis syndrome because they think a Staffy will make them look all tough. They have now got a bad reputation.

I know a lot of my followers come from America and from reading there Blogs i know they have the same problem with Pitbulls in there country.

In my opinion i think it is totally wrong to prejudice certain breeds. Dogs aren't born aggressive it's us humans who make them that way. And it's about time the authorities realised that and acted accordingly.

There are no bad dogs only bad owners. One of my favourite sayings is a dog is only as good as the person on the other end of the lead.

  2. Thank you it always annoys me when certain breeds are judged. When the biggest problem is the people who keep them.

Dad says instead of a dangerous dogs act there should be a dangerous humans act.

  3. People always ask what type of dog are Maggie and Duke. They're street dogs from Puerto Rico, or Satos, so we really don't know what they are. Once someone said that she looked part pitbull and was shocked when I said "I wish"! All of the pitbull type dogs we know are the friendliest, cuddliest, most high energy pups.

  4. Where I live pit bulls are illegal to own. I think that's really wrong & that the stupid people should be banned.

    1. It's the same in the UK they're classed as a dangerous breed, because of there dog fighting history, i wouldn't mind but they didn't chose to fight they're forced into it.

So whos fault is it the dogs or the people who organise dog fights. Unfortunately the dogs are an easy target because they can't speek up for themselves in court.

  5. hey Sheba,

Excellent post! And great poster. It makes me so angry when dogs are unfairly judged. I recall in the 1970s it was Doberman Pinschers, then German Shepherds, then Rottweilers, now Pitt Bulls. I am sure in a few years another breed will be targeted. And you are correct, it is the stupid humans who breed them to be aggressive, and then fight them or treat them cruelly to make them even more so.

    Good and informative post.

P.S. Blogger now shows your posts on my list, but it is a few weeks behind, so I am not yet getting your current updates. But this is a big step, so hopefully next time I log on it will be totally fixed. :->

    1. Hi. I dont blame you for getting angry. I get judged because I'm part Rottweiler, if people want to judge me, judge me on the sweet dog i am not on the rubbish that the media have brain washed people with.

I'm sorry you're still having problems with updates.

  6. I agree! No one wants to be judged, and animals shouldn't be either. Animals are just like children, they live what they are taught.
    * Thank you for the blog award! :)

  8. You are so right, Sheba. You should check out some of the Blogville Pitty Post Day posts (mine is at http://theworldaccordingtogarthriley.blogspot.com/2012/06/blogville-pitty-post-day-meet-my-pittie.html). I've got LOTS of pittie friends and I believe it is totally and completely wrong to judge a dog based upon his breed. Good owners make good dogs. Unfortunately there are a lot of bad owners out there, and unfortunately bad owners are often attracted to the dogs who look tough or who have a bad reputation. And the dogs are thought to be dangerous, when really the owners are dangerous, like you said.

We just need to keep educating people -- and one way to do that is for people to meet dogs like you and my pittie friends, who are well-trained and well-behaved, and that will make people re-think their views about rottweilers, or pit-bulls, or dobermans, or whatever breed they want to discriminate against.

  9. I agree with you 100% about educating people. I've always liked big dogs Rottweilers, German Shepherds And Dogue de Bordeaux etc. If you own a big dog you need to go that extra mile to make sure there well behaved. I don't want people to be scared of my dog i want them to stroke her, so i make sure she's a good ambasador for big dogs.
