Tennessee dog dies Thursday because he is 'gay'

Just when you think that you have heard it all, along comes an excuse that completely boggles the mind.
Tomorrow, a dog, name unknown, will be put to death at an overcrowded animal control in Jackson, Tenn., after his owner surrendered him there because he believes that his dog is "gay."
According to the prior owner, the dog was seen "hunched over," another male dog, therefore, in this owner's mind, the dog must be gay.
The former owner apparently does not know that "hunched over, aka humping behavior" is typically a sign of dominance in dogs, rather than something to signify a dog's sexual orientation.
But, on the other hand, even if it did indicate sexual orientation, does it warrant turning one's dog over to an extremely crowded, sadly "high kill," animal control facility?
Should it matter?
No.

Don't let this gorgeous dog die bc his owner is ignorant of normal dog behavior! He's in kennel 10L and he WILL be put down tomorrow bc there is no room at the inn!And the following is stated about this dog's dire situation:
they (shelter) open at 9 a.m. and he will die by 1 p.m. if not adopted as he was an owner surrender. Adoption fee is 38.00 and that only includes a voucher for a rabies shot. He looks to be a pit/american bulldog mix.Shelter location:

Attention, the 'gay' dog has left the building

It is official, the "gay" pit bull mix who was slated for destruction at a Jackson, Tenn., animal control facility, is safe.
Following a flurry of internet networking, the supposed "gay" dog, who was actually just displaying normal dog behavior, was sprung from the Jackson Rabies Control building early Thursday morning.
According to ABC News, the misunderstood dog is now owned by a veterinary tech named Stephanie Fryns.
Fryns has named the dog, "Elton."
She told ABC that Elton enjoyed the car ride and that he has been "pretty friendly so far."
When word spread that Elton was deemed "gay," by his prior owner for "hunching over" another male dog, people from across the nation were simultaneously shocked and outraged at the ignorance of the owner who wound up surrendering Elton for behaving in a perfectly normal manner.
Not to mention, even if Elton was "gay," who cares?
Bottom line, Elvis has left the building.
Anyone who was beside themselves with worry over Elton may want to direct that concern towards the dogs who are still in danger at the Jackson Rabies facility.
Without a bizarre story of their own, they might not make it out alive.
