Just got back off Holiday.

This is were we stayed on holiday. Keen Ground Cottage Hawkshead, Cumbria.

The history of Hawkshead.

Some more history and photos of Hawkshead, Cumbria.

Well it's back to reality again now, we all had a great time lovely walks and fantastic weather I don't suppose I will get 6-8 hour walks a day now. Having said that though there's a big difference from the countryside to the concrete jungle I'm used to.

The only change now is the patio set's been moved down, there's a bench against the wall of the cottage and the wooden gates have bee replaced by iron ones.

I settled right in and took up a prime spot of looking down the lane for intruders.

View from bed room window of cottage.

Chilling out with Mum and Grandma.

Mum and Dad loved having breakfast on the patio and of course I had to join them.

Do you want me to help out with the driving Dad.

More photos to follow.

Some random holiday pics.

The one thing I liked about the holiday was all the locals were so trusting, all the farmers sold there produce from all the little lanes and house owners would sell homemade jams and chutneys from outside there homes with an honesty box to put your money in, it was like stepping back in time.

Even the local chapel had a sign outside saying free tea and biscuits and dogs welcome.

These photos were took on a lovely sunny day, you could see the sun between the mountains but they turned out more stormy looking.

We've just booked our holidays for this year back to the Lake District again, instead of 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year like we did last year we're going away for Grandmas birthday in June and then a week for Christmas staying in the same area but different cottages.

In June we're staying in Keen Ground Cottage.

And December we're staying in Croft Barn Cottage

More Holiday Photos.

On Christmas Eve we went on a new walk up to Moss Eccles Tarn, It's always nice when you find new places to explore I was on the lead for about 100 yds when we crossed the road and than had a short walk to the public footpath where I was allowed off lead for about 4 hours.

On the way up the path we came across a couple of horses.

View looking back to were we started from.

View looking over the fields.

At last fresh drinking water.

Why's Dad trying to hold the rock up it's not as if it's going to fall over.

Another little Tarn we found Wise Een Tarn.

I think we better head back before the clouds and mist comes in and we lose the light.

The history of Hawkshead in the Lake District.

Well we've just arrived back down to earth with a big bump, the daily grind begins again I'm going to try and fit things in around her sleeping so I can spend more quality time with her.

One big thing I noticed was in the 2 weeks we were there we never saw any dog muck or litter considering the amount of people and dogs we saw, why can't people be like that at home it goes to show it can be done, another thing is we never saw 1 staffie everyone has dogs because they love them not for a status symbol.

Village life is great everyone is so friendly and all the shops are dog friendly I even got told off for standing outside with Sheba in the rain. Even Sheba's favourite treats were reduced to less than half price the shop assistant said Christmas is just as much about the dogs as it is us I love her way of thinking. It was a dog walkers paradise.

Were we stayed was just 2 minutes walk from the medieval village of Hawkshead which hasn't changed in all them centuries it's still a maze of higgledy-piggledy cobbled streets, a typical village consisting of a church, chemist, post office and four pubs.

The Lake District landscape was forged in the ice age which is why there are so many lakes and tarns around the place formed by big sheets of ice sliding down the mountains.

It will take me to much time to go in depth about the history so I will provide links for you to browse at your pleasure.
