sheba...even tho we iz kittehs, we get reeeely amgree when we see breeds get "picked out" for bein dangerous.....mom hada friend who had a pit that laid on de same floor as de BABIES did....
itz knot de DAWG thatz bad...its de idiot PURRSON who raises de dawg thatz bad....
Great information. Thank you so much for sharing it. One of my favorite dog friends is Lexie. She and her brother Louie are pit bull rescues. They are both very lucky to have found a loving home.
This is so informative, thankyou Sheba. Me and mum have always stood up for pitbulls and any bully breeds, they are so misunderstood and made out to be something they're not! When i go on walks people usually cross the street to avoid me!! The cheek, if they knew me before they judged me they would know i was a friendly, playful dog!!!! Love Milo :)
Very good infographic. Because of the way they look pitbulls have been pickd by thugs as their weapon of choice and as we know any animal if badly treated or trained to be vicious will attack. It is the people that own them that should be banned! The deed not the breed!!
Seriously, banned in the UK? Wow, I didn't even know something like that was possible! So sad! Thanks for such an informative post! Just became your follower too :)
Great info! Ophelia, the shelter dog my son just adopted, is part Pitt Bull. She is awesome and is the sweetest dog. Our shelter is full of Pitt mixes and it is so sad that people won't adopt them cause they are part Pitt.
It isn't just Pit Bulls that are banned in the UK. Banning the Pit Bull achieved nothing so they said that Pit Bull type dogs are banned, so any crossbreed that looks vaguely like a Pit Bull can be classified as being of 'type' and it's up to the owner to prove it isn't.
So very interesting - such a difficult and controversial debate, and one that breaks my heart! I always feel that this "dangerous breed" idea is just the same as the "racial profiling" issue that we have deemed to be heinous (in North America, anyway)simply because we are talking about humans instead of dogs.
That is so sad - and informative. Keep a look out on my blog this week - I am starting a project for shelters and will share it soon on my blog.

You're not wrong, there's no bad dogs just bad owners.

ReplyDeleteYou're right it is a shame.

Yep, we are not allowed them in the UK, when are people gonna realize it's not the dogs it's the bloody owners!xxooxx
ReplyDeleteMollie and Alfie
It's always the dogs that suffer.

ReplyDeleteBSL doesn't work, It's the owners at fault.
DeleteSheba.
Such a shame, if owners were more responsible and socialised and trained their dogs properly pit bulls wouldn't be banned
ReplyDeleteI actually took the time to read this. Thanks for sharing it, Ian.
